The MacFarland Corrigan Speaker Series

Artist-in-Residence '23-'24: Lisa Kelley

The EEHSP is proud to present The MacFarland Corrigan Speaker Series’ Artist-in-Residence featuring Lisa Kelley as this year’s visiting artist!

Lisa is experienced in creating large murals with fabric and textiles and is bringing this hands-on experience to our elementary schools this year.

Lisa worked with Erdenheim students in February. Their woven mandalas will be hung in an installation in the school library next month!

Next, Lisa will be working with Enfield students March 4-8!  Enfield artists will create painted papers by painting on white and colored paper with paint brushes and acrylic paint. When the papers are finished and dry, Lisa will take them to her studio and cut them into strips and weave them all together to create a final collaborative piece. It will be hung on a large wall inside the school!

VOLUNTEER! You may sign up to volunteer during your child’s art class at Enfield. Six volunteers are needed per class! Click the button below to volunteer (with class dates and more details). Please note: if all spots on the volunteer sign-up are full for your child’s class, please contact Mrs. Klein to be added to the volunteer list: alison_klein@sdst.org

About the Artist:

Lisa Kelley is the teaching artist-in-residence at The Little Meetinghouse at Abington Art Center and a teaching artist at the Kensington Storefront and Prevention Point – both of which serve people impacted by addiction and homelessness in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia. Lisa has also worked with Mural Arts Philadelphia and has participated in similar artist in residence programs in school districts nearby. Her background in graphic design has influenced her work through explorations of color, pattern and repetition. Collage, paint, fibers, textiles, metal, found objects and hand-carved stamps make up some of her recent work.

About The MacFarland Corrigan Speaker Series:

The EEHSP and the School District of Springfield Township have established the MacFarland Corrigan Speaker Series to remember the contributions of Debbie MacFarland Corrigan, who served as an educator in the district. The support for this series comes from the Debbie MacFarland Corrigan Memorial Fund at the Philadelphia Foundation. The EEHSP and District staff will use these funds to bring reputable speakers in the areas of fine arts, music, and literature to the students of the Enfield and Erdenheim Elementary Schools.
